Mit dem Rollstuhl und der Kamera ging es am Sonntagnachmittag zum Bahnhof runter - einfach mal so schauen, was geht. Und was geht? an Gleis 6 steht ein kleiner Stand, der zum Tag der offenen Tür im Betriebswerk Kiel einlädt. Kurzinfo zu meiner Überraschung: Ein behindertengerechter Pendelverkehr mit einem LINT-BR648 wird mich mitnehmen, falls ich möchte.
With my electric wheelchair and my camera i went to the central station on sunday afternoon, just o see, whats going on. And, whats up: Open house at the Kiel-RR-shops. Short info for me: A handicapped accessible class648 train flipflops me there, if i like to go there.
Klar will ich. Ein freundlicher Bahnmitarbeiter öffnet den schmalen Schrank, hier links neben der Tür, und entnimmt eine Rampe, die er flott zu einem Übergang in den Zug entfaltet. Kurze Zeit später setzt sich der Zug langsam ins nahe Bw in Bewegung. Außer mir nur noch ca. 10 Leute mit im Zug - Es ist ja schon 1630h - und das gros der Leute ist schon durch.
Sure i will. A friendly railroad employee opens the small cabinet left of the door and pulls out a ramp, which allows me to drive into the train. A little later the train starts to rumble to the shops a few hundred meters away. Another ca. 10 visitors are in the train too - Its nearly 1630h and just one hour before closing time not much people are on their way anymore.
Mit dieser Rampe werde ich am Bw Kiel aus dem Zug gehoben; Mitarbeiter erwarten mich schon - Spitzenservice!

After a shot hour i saw it all and decided to drive home - this time on my own wheels. Great. And, if seen two weeks ago in Berlin: Extemely positive impressed by the friendly railroad staff!

Way back home took me roadside to the old flats of the thirties.
Erstaunlich wie gut noch alles in Schuß ist - man hat also anständig und durchdacht gebaut.
